AUTOMATED BUS DEPOT
In 2019 Fusion worked with Stagecoach Group Plc and bus manufacturer Alexander Dennis Ltd to develop the UK’s first full-sized automated bus. After development runs at Millbrook to fine-tune the sensors and control systems, the bus was put through its paces at Stagecoach’s busy Sharston and Cambridge depots. The system demonstrated its ability to safely navigate bus depots, can safely find its way to the fuel station, bus-wash and a parking bays under the command of Fusion’s Fleet Management systems.
An autonomous bus offers improved safety and efficiencies to bus companies. Locations such as the bus wash and fuelling stations can be selected via the cockpit mounted control panel, or a control centre located elsewhere.
